Kyung Mi Kim, PhD, RN, Co-Founder of M&K Consulting Partners, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and a nurse scientist at Stanford Health Care. With expertise in quantitative methods—including econometrics, large-scale data analysis, and the evaluation of value-based payment policies—Dr. Kim is dedicated to advancing care models that reduce the cost of high-quality care for frail patients and their caregivers. She collaborates with leaders in healthcare, science, and technology to drive meaningful, lasting impact. Her work has resulted in successful publications in JAMA Network Open, BMC Medicine, BMC Public Health, PLOS ONE, and NEJM Catalyst, as well as securing NIH grants, including R21/R33 and SBIR awards.
As a certified operating room nurse at the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Kim leverages her hands-on experience in surgical patient care to identify and address real-world healthcare challenges. She earned her PhD in nursing and health policy from UCSF, where she was honored with the distinguished dissertation award, and she completed her postdoctoral research fellowship at the Clinical Excellence Research Center at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Michele Diaz Nelson, PhD, MS, RN, Co-Founder of M&K Consulting Partners, is a Nurse Scientist at Stanford Health Care and a Design, Innovation, and Clinical Entrepreneurship nurse affiliate at Stanford’s Clinical Excellence Research Center. With extensive research experience in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, Dr. Nelson leads projects from initial design through implementation to analysis and dissemination. She collaborates with academic scientists, industry leaders, and health and wellness companies, specializing in healthcare innovation.
Dr. Diaz Nelson’s clinical expertise centers on caring for underrepresented populations, particularly older adults with traumatic brain injuries, neurodegenerative diseases, strokes, and their caregivers. As an Adult-Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, she holds both a Master of Science and a PhD in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Diaz Nelson has served as Principal Investigator for several grants, including those funded by the NIH. She is dedicated to developing and implementing innovative care solutions that improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Her work focuses on driving healthcare innovation to address gaps in care across various sectors.
